Alrighty Folks,
We have an awesome crew again this year, with several additions. (I can’t believe I forgot to take pictures of the crew dinner this winter, but we had a blast!)
Capt. Jonathan (aka J, like the letter) continues to impress with us with his skills, knowledge and quiet demeaner, he worked the Winter Season with Danielle as a deckhand, she will be splitting her time with us and SeaStreak and will train the new deckhands.
Laureen, the wonderful longtime office and galley friend is with us again! We value her so much that every minute we can have her is a plus! She will train Brenda in the galley and office, Brenda has 22 years in ferries doing… everything! She will also handle the bookings and occasional deckhand work for GODFREY.
Jack Stellato will be with us again with his amazing bartending skills for charters and cruises.
Two new Interns from NE Maritime, Courtney and Kenneth. Very motivated and personable hires that we continue to get from Northeast Maritime School.
In addition, we have 4 part-time captains/mates who will be on the ferry or GODFREY as needed; Dave Wilson (yup he was with us a few years ago!) Cam, Dan and Seth. All are very skilled Captains, Dave and Cam run the Cape Cod Canal Patrol and Assist Vessels (on rotating schedules.) Dan is on a rotating schedule aboard a wind farm assist vessel. Seth Borges has been working on GODFREY since we got her and will be splitting his time between us, SeaStreak and his own custom marine contracting work. He is a highly skilled Captain that isn’t above deckhand work!
Sadly, for all, this season our good friend Chuck Fontaine has decided to spend the summer camping and traveling with his wife Lauren. Chuck really needs to be able to enjoy his retirement while he can! We can really dig his thinking! We all will miss his friendliness, helpfulness and Captainness!
John Pollock, the quiet and helpful deckhand, has decided to also retire, tick illness was certainly a factor. He wants everyone to be diligent about protecting themselves. We will miss him.
Well, I guess I must address the commonplace, disagreeable cost uncertainties of what anything might cost going forward. We are struggling to overcome the price spikes and uncertainty of 2025, I can only hope we can avoid imposing tariffs. We are currently holding prices from last year as long as we can.
Sadly, this year the Island lost some beloved people that are greatly missed. No mere words can suffice. We are thinking of all their families.
GODFREY is our vessel for on demand water taxi service. If you go to www.cuttyhunkshuttle.com, you will see rates and info about the boat.
We remain ever vigilant to be a safe, happy, and efficient ferry service for the wonderful people of Cuttyhunk. We so appreciate all your support and business throughout the year, all of us love seeing you folks year after year.
This ferry thing is what we do, we love doing it and therefore we continue to invest in Cuttyhunk Ferry for the long term, upgrading whenever time and money allow, we are here and fully committed. We remain your humble Ferry Company.
On our vessels, you will be welcomed and respected without any biases or preconceptions about how you live your lives. We and our employees are non-judgmental.
All the best,
Sue, Jono, Jonathan, and all the crew
